Abstract

ABSTRACT

PRODUCTIVITY ANALYSIS OF SOME VARIETIES OF  SORGHUM (SORGHUM BICOLOR (L.) MOENCH) AS FEED.                            This study aims to analyze the productivity of several varieties of sorghum as feed as measured through leaf fresh weight, leaf dry matter weight, stem fresh weight, stem dry matter weight, panicle fresh weight, panicle dry matter weight. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 different varieties and 5 replications. The sorghum varieties analyzed were Samurai 2, Suri 4, Super 1 and Numbu. The results of the analysis showed that the difference in varieties was very significant (P<0.01) on the fresh weight of leaves, dry matter weight of leaves, fresh weight of stems, dry matter weight of stems, fresh weight of panicles and dry matter weight of panicles. Numbu variety produced the highest leaf fresh weight, stem fresh weight and panicle fresh weight compared to other varieties, but gave results that were not significantly different (P>0.05) with Suri 4 and Super 1 varieties on leaf fresh weight. The Numbu variety produced very significantly higher dry matter weight of stems and panicles (P<0.01) compared to other varieties. Suri 4 variety produced very significantly higher leaf dry matter weight (P<0.01) compared to Samurai 2 and Super 1 varieties, but not significantly different (P>0.05) with Numbu variety. It was concluded that the different varieties of sorghum plants analyzed, namely the Samurai 2, Suri 4, Super 1 and Numbu varieties, gave diverse differences in productivity: where for the fresh weight of stems, leaves and panicles and the weight of dry matter of stems and panicles the highest was obtained from the Numbu variety; the highest weight of dry matter of leaves was obtained from the Suri 4 variety.

Keywords : sorghum, Numbu variety, Super 1 variety, Suri 4 variety, Samurai 2 variety
