Proximate and Mineral Profiles of Seagrass from Balikpapan Bay

Seagrasses are polyphyletic flowering plants (angiosperms) they have single seed (monocots) and rhizome roots, leaves, flowers, and fruit, which colonize the marine environment and important ecosystems for various aquatic organisms. One of them is Halodule pinifolia, which inhabits the Balikpapan Bay area. Aimed of the study was conducted the characteristics of proximate and mineral content of H. pinifolia. The research consisted of proximate analysis, crude fiber and minerals. The data was analyzed descriptively and calculated using Microsoft Excel. H. pinifolia has a moisture content is 12.77-15.23%; ash 17.50-17.67%; fat 0.42-0.76%; protein 5.43-14-18%; carbohydrates 52.35-63.72%; and crude fiber 9.91-11.81%. Pottasium (K) content ranges from 2.05-2.06%; with Ca 0.31%; Mg 0.09%, and Na 0.14%. The analysis result had shown the nutrition values that have potention as raw material for functional food and food additive.

Lamun merupakan tumbuhan berbunga (angiospermae) polifiletik, berbiji satu (monokotil) dan mempunyai akar rimpang, daun, bunga, dan buah yang mengkolonisasi lingkungan laut dan ekosistem penting bagi berbagai organisme perairan. Salah satunya adalah Halodule pinifolia yang mendiami wilayah teluk Balikpapan. Penelitian dilakukan bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik proksimat dan mineral H. pinifolia. Penelitian terdiri atas analisis proksimat, serat kasar, dan mineral. Data di analisis secara deskriptif dan dihitung menggunakan Microsoft Excel. H. pinifolia mengandung kadar air 12,77-15,23%; abu 17,50-17,67%; lemak 0,42-0,76%; protein 5,43-14,18%; karbohidrat 52,35-63,72%; dan serat kasar 9,91-11,81%. Kandungan mineral kalium (K) H. pinifolia yaitu 2,05-2,06%; kalsium (Ca) 0,31%; magnesium (Mg) 0,09%, dan natrium (Na) 0,14%. Hasil analisis tersebut menunjukkan nilai nutrisi yang berpotensi untuk dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan baku pangan fungsional dan bahan tambahan pangan.
