Journal History

Sam Ratulangi Politics Review (SRPolRev) was established to meet the growing demand for a rigorous, open-access academic forum dedicated to political science, electoral studies, local governance, and international relations, with a specialized focus on Indonesia and the broader Asia-Pacific region.

Institutional Foundation & Founding Vision
Founded by the Study Program of Politics, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Sam Ratulangi University in Manado, North Sulawesi, SRPolRev was conceived as a scholarly bridge connecting regional political dynamics in Eastern Indonesia with national and global discourse.

1. Key Milestones & Development Timeline

Establishment & Initial Launch:
SRPolRev was officially launched on the Open Journal Systems (OJS 3) platform. From its inaugural issue, the journal committed to a Diamond Open Access publishing model, offering full article access without fees for readers or authors.
Digital Standardization & Indexing Expansion:
To ensure digital persistence and global discoverability, SRPolRev integrated Crossref Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) for all published articles and secured indexing in major databases including Google Scholar, Garuda, and Dimensions.
Editorial Policy & Ethics Enhancement:
The journal systematically upgraded its peer-review policies to align with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines, adopted APA 7th Edition referencing standards, and introduced explicit policies governing generative AI technology in academic writing.

2. Publication Cadence & Archival Continuity

SRPolRev publishes three times a year (triannually / 3 issues per year). All back issues are permanently archived and accessible through the journal's official OJS portal and university digital repository, preserving the scientific record for political scholars and researchers worldwide.
