Copyright Notice & License

1. Preamble

Zootec is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by the Faculty of Animal Sciences, Sam Ratulangi University, Indonesia. The journal is committed to disseminating scholarly research in animal sciences, including livestock production, animal feed and nutrition, livestock socio-economics, animal product technology, animal health, and companion and wildlife animals.

This Copyright Notice and License Policy explains copyright ownership, the publication rights granted to Zootec, and the terms governing access to, distribution of, and reuse of published articles. The policy aims to protect authors' intellectual property rights while facilitating the dissemination and responsible use of scientific knowledge in accordance with the journal's applicable licensing terms.

2. Copyright Ownership

Authors who publish in Zootec retain the copyright to their work.

Authors are not required to transfer copyright ownership to Zootec or its publisher. Authors grant the journal the right to publish their work and make the published article available through the journal's official publishing platform, subject to the journal's applicable publication terms.

Authors remain responsible for ensuring that their submissions are original, that all sources are appropriately acknowledged, and that they have obtained the necessary permissions for any third-party materials included in their manuscripts.

Copyright ownership remains with the authors unless otherwise agreed in writing or required by applicable law.

3. Publishing Rights and Author Responsibilities

By submitting a manuscript to Zootec, authors confirm that the work is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, except where the journal has been informed of and accepts an applicable exception.

Upon acceptance, authors authorize Zootec to publish, distribute, and preserve the accepted article in accordance with the journal's publication policies.

Authors may share or distribute their published work through institutional repositories, personal websites, academic profiles, or other appropriate platforms, subject to the applicable license, any relevant third-party rights, and the requirement to acknowledge the article's original publication in Zootec.

Any subsequent publication or distribution of the article should clearly identify Zootec as the original publication source and include the appropriate bibliographic information and DOI, where available.

4. Open Access and Creative Commons License

Zootec provides open access to its published scholarly content through its official journal website.

The specific Creative Commons license applicable to Zootec articles must be identified clearly by the journal and applied consistently to the published articles and their associated metadata. Users are expected to comply with the license indicated on the relevant article's webpage and published full-text version.

If Zootec adopts the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0), the following terms apply:

Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0)

Under this license, users are permitted to:

  • Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.

  • Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material.

These activities are permitted subject to the following conditions:

Attribution (BY): Users must provide appropriate credit to the author(s), acknowledge Zootec as the original source of publication, include a link to the applicable Creative Commons license, and indicate whether changes have been made. Where available, the citation should include the article title, author(s), journal title, volume, issue, page range or article number, year of publication, and DOI.

NonCommercial (NC): Users may not use the material for commercial purposes. Uses that are primarily intended for or directed toward commercial advantage or monetary compensation require separate authorization where such use is not otherwise permitted by law or an applicable exception.

The CC BY-NC 4.0 license does not impose a ShareAlike requirement. Adapted material therefore does not automatically have to be distributed under the same license, although attribution and the other applicable license conditions must be respected.

If Zootec adopts a different Creative Commons license, this section must be revised to reflect that license accurately.

5. Third-Party Materials

Materials such as photographs, figures, tables, illustrations, and other content belonging to third parties may be subject to separate copyright or licensing terms.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce or adapt third-party materials when permission is required. Any applicable copyright notices, acknowledgments, or license restrictions must be clearly indicated in the published article.

The license applied to a Zootec article does not automatically grant rights to third-party materials that are excluded from that license.

6. Copyright and Licensing Inquiries

Questions concerning copyright ownership, licensing, permissions, reproduction, distribution, or reuse of articles published in Zootec may be directed to the journal's editorial office.
