Eksekutif: Jurnal Ilmu Pemerintahan recognizes that artificial intelligence and AI-assisted technologies may support certain research, writing, editing, data-processing, and publication activities. Their use must nevertheless preserve human accountability, scholarly originality, methodological transparency, confidentiality, intellectual-property rights, and the integrity of the academic record.

This policy applies to authors, editors, reviewers, and other persons involved in the journal's editorial process. Human participants remain fully responsible for every decision, claim, citation, interpretation, image, dataset, and conclusion submitted to or published by the journal.

Core Policy
AI Is Not an Author
AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot approve the final manuscript, assume responsibility, declare conflicts of interest, or enter copyright and licensing agreements.
Disclosure Is Required
Substantive use of generative or analytical AI must be disclosed clearly, including the tool, version where available, purpose, affected part of the work, and manner of human verification.
Humans Remain Accountable
Authors must review, verify, revise, and take responsibility for AI-assisted content, including factual accuracy, analysis, originality, citations, permissions, bias, and ethical compliance.
Requirements for Authors
Transparent declaration. Authors must disclose substantive AI use during submission and in the manuscript. The disclosure should appear in the Methods, Acknowledgments, or another section appropriate to the nature of the use.
Verification of content. Authors must verify all facts, quotations, calculations, analytical outputs, translations, references, and links. AI-generated references must not be accepted without checking the original source.
Originality and attribution. Authors must ensure that AI-assisted text, images, code, data, and analysis do not plagiarize, misappropriate, or infringe the rights of third parties. Appropriate sources and permissions remain mandatory.
Protection of confidential information. Authors must not upload confidential, personally identifiable, copyrighted, restricted, sensitive, or unpublished third-party material to an AI system unless lawful authorization, adequate security, and appropriate consent are assured.
Human scholarly contribution. The research question, intellectual argument, methodology, interpretation, and conclusions must reflect meaningful human scholarly judgment. AI output must not replace the author's critical reasoning.
AI Use Disclosure

A disclosure should identify the AI tool and provider, model or version when known, date of access when relevant, purpose of use, sections or research activities affected, and the steps taken by the authors to review and validate the output.

Suggested disclosure statement:
During the preparation of this manuscript, the authors used [tool and version] for [specific purpose]. The authors reviewed and verified all AI-assisted output, revised the material where necessary, and accept full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and final content of the manuscript.

  • Formatting, coding assistance, or data processing that is verified and documented
  • Idea organization or drafting support that does not replace original scholarly judgment

Prohibited or Unacceptable
  • Listing an AI tool as an author, co-author, or accountable contributor
  • Submitting fabricated facts, references, quotations, data, results, or images
  • Using AI to conceal plagiarism, duplicate publication, or manipulated research
  • Generating deceptive synthetic evidence or impersonating human participants
  • Failing to disclose substantive AI assistance when disclosure is required
Use of AI by Editors and Reviewers

Submitted manuscripts, review files, editorial correspondence, and unpublished data are confidential. Editors and reviewers must not upload such materials to public or third-party AI systems when confidentiality, data protection, intellectual-property safeguards, and contractual controls cannot be assured.

AI tools must not replace independent editorial judgment or critical peer review. If an approved AI-assisted system is used for a limited editorial purpose, the responsible person must protect confidentiality, verify the output, disclose the use when appropriate, and remain accountable for the final assessment or decision.

Non-Disclosure and Misuse

Undisclosed or irresponsible AI use may result in a request for clarification or correction, additional editorial assessment, manuscript rejection, withdrawal of acceptance, correction or retraction of a published article, and other proportionate actions under the journal's Publication Ethics policy. Decisions will consider the materiality of the AI use, the reliability of the evidence, the effect on the scholarly record, and the author's response.

AI may support scholarly work, but human authorship, transparent disclosure, critical verification, confidentiality, and full accountability remain mandatory at Jurnal Eksekutif.
