Author Guidelines

Eksekutif: Jurnal Ilmu Pemerintahan welcomes original, rigorous, and relevant manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of government studies, political dynamics, public administration, public policy, local and village governance, democratic governance, public-sector innovation, digital government, and related interdisciplinary fields.

Authors must prepare manuscripts in accordance with these guidelines and the official journal template. Submissions that do not meet the journal's focus and scope, ethical requirements, minimum academic quality, or technical format may be returned for correction or declined before peer review.

1. General Requirements
Scope and originality. The manuscript must be relevant to the journal's Focus and Scope, contain an original scholarly contribution, and not have been published previously or be under consideration by another journal.
Language. Manuscripts should be written in clear academic English. Authors are responsible for language accuracy and may be asked to undertake professional language editing when necessary.
Submission method. All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal's OJS online submission system. Manuscripts sent only by email or informal communication channels will not be processed.
Peer review. Eligible manuscripts undergo initial editorial screening and double-blind peer review. Acceptance is not guaranteed and remains subject to academic quality, ethical compliance, reviewer recommendations, and the editorial decision.
2. Manuscript Format
File and Page
Microsoft Word format, A4 page size, using the official Jurnal Eksekutif template.
Length
Approximately 6,000-8,000 words, including tables, figures, notes, and references, unless otherwise approved by the editor.
Typography
Use the font, margins, spacing, headings, and layout prescribed in the official journal template.
Referencing
Use APA 7th Edition consistently and manage citations with Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote, or equivalent software.
3. Manuscript Structure

  2. Author information and affiliations, entered in OJS metadata and included only in the non-anonymized title page where requested
  3. Abstract

  6. Literature Review and theoretical or conceptual framework, either as a separate section or integrated with the Introduction where appropriate

4. Title, Abstract, and Keywords
Title
The title should be concise, specific, informative, and preferably no more than 15 words. Avoid unnecessary abbreviations, formulas, and vague expressions.
Abstract
Provide a single-paragraph abstract of approximately 200-250 words stating the background or purpose, method, principal findings, and conclusion or contribution. Do not include citations.
Keywords
Provide 3-5 specific keywords or short phrases that support indexing and discovery. Avoid merely repeating the complete title.
5. Main Text Requirements
Introduction. Explain the research problem, empirical and scholarly context, relevant previous studies, research gap, novelty, research question or objective, and theoretical or practical contribution.
Literature Review. Develop a critical synthesis of relevant literature and establish the theoretical or conceptual basis for the study. Avoid a purely descriptive list of previous research.
Research Methods. Describe the research design, setting, data sources, participants or units of analysis, sampling or informant selection, data collection, variables or analytical categories, analysis procedures, validity, reliability or trustworthiness, and ethical considerations in sufficient detail.
Results and Discussion. Present findings systematically, answer the research question, interpret the evidence, relate results to theory and previous studies, explain agreements or differences, and demonstrate the study's contribution and implications. Do not merely repeat table contents.
Conclusion. Provide a concise answer to the research objective, state the main contribution and implications, and identify reasonable limitations or recommendations. The conclusion should not simply duplicate the Results and Discussion.
6. Tables, Figures, and Supplementary Material
  • Number tables and figures consecutively and refer to each one in the main text.
  • Provide a concise title and identify the source below each table or figure.
  • Tables must remain editable and must not be submitted only as images.
  • Figures must be clear, readable, and of sufficient resolution for publication.
  • Avoid duplicating the same information in text, tables, and figures.
  • Authors must obtain permission for copyrighted or third-party materials.
  • Supplementary files should be labeled clearly and uploaded separately where appropriate.
7. Citations and References
  • Use APA 7th Edition consistently for in-text citations and the reference list.
  • Use reference-management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.
  • Prioritize peer-reviewed journal articles and other authoritative primary sources.
  • As a general expectation, most references should be relevant publications from the last 10 years, while important classical works, legislation, and foundational sources may be cited when justified.
  • Every work cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and every reference-list entry must be cited in the text.
  • Include DOI links in the form https://doi.org/... whenever available.
  • Authors are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of every reference.
8. Research and Publication Ethics
Ethics and Consent
Studies involving human participants, personal data, vulnerable groups, or ethically sensitive material must comply with applicable ethical requirements and report approval and informed consent where relevant.
Funding and Competing Interests
Disclose all funding sources and any financial, institutional, professional, or personal relationships that could influence the research or publication process.
Authorship
All named authors must have made a substantial contribution, approved the final version, and accepted accountability. Guest, gift, and ghost authorship are prohibited.
Data and Permissions
Authors must protect confidential information, maintain research records, provide data-availability information where appropriate, and secure permission for third-party material.
9. Use of Artificial Intelligence

AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Authors must disclose substantive use of generative or analytical AI, identify the tool and purpose, verify all output, protect confidential information, confirm the accuracy of references and claims, and accept full responsibility for the final manuscript. Routine spelling and grammar assistance that does not generate substantive scholarly content does not normally require disclosure. Authors should consult the journal's AI Generated Content Policy for complete requirements.

10. Double-Blind Review and Metadata
Anonymous manuscript. Remove author names, affiliations, email addresses, acknowledgments, identifying self-references, document properties, and other identifying information from the file submitted for review.
Complete OJS metadata. Enter the full title, abstract, keywords, author names, affiliations, countries, email addresses, ORCID identifiers where available, and references accurately in OJS. The order entered must match the agreed authorship order.
11. Online Submission Process
  1. Register or log in to the journal website.
  2. Start a new submission and select the appropriate article section.
  3. Confirm all Submission Preparation Checklist items.
  4. Upload the anonymized main manuscript and necessary supplementary files.
  5. Enter complete and accurate metadata and contributor information.
  6. Provide declarations concerning ethics, funding, conflicts of interest, data, permissions, and AI use where applicable.
  7. Review all information carefully and complete the submission.
12. Final Author Checklist
  • ?The manuscript follows the official template and these guidelines.
  • ?The manuscript is original and is not under consideration elsewhere.
  • ?The review file has been anonymized.
  • ?References, DOI links, tables, figures, and permissions have been checked.
  • ?Author metadata and authorship order are accurate.

Submission of a manuscript confirms that all authors have read and accepted these guidelines and the journal's editorial and publication policies.
