This study aimed to analyze the effects of initial seed weight and cultivation depth on the growth of Caulerpa lentillifera in a vertical culture system using monofilament nylon rope as the planting medium in the coastal waters of Bahoi Village, North Minahasa. A 3×3 factorial design was applied, consisting of three initial weights (50 g, 100 g, and 150 g) and three depths (20 cm, 70 cm, and 120 cm), each with three replications. Observed parameters included absolute growth and specific growth rate (SGR) over a 28-day cultivation period. The results indicated that initial weight significantly affected growth, whereas depth had no significant effect and no interaction was detected between the two factors. The 50 g treatment produced the highest growth performance with an SGR of 1.39 ± 0.08% day⁻¹, which falls within the productivity range of tropical open-sea farming systems. These findings highlight that optimizing seed weight plays a more critical role than shallow depth variation in improving the cultivation efficiency of C. lentillifera under a monofilament nylon-based vertical culture system.
